Yep, as part of our housing contract negotiations, we were required to get this "dead" tree down. I never knew it wasn't alive, and I miss its presence. But it's no longer a safety threat to the home. Thanks Carl, for saving us $600 (what the inspector estimated would be the cost for a tree removal).
