Great news!!

It's official, it's real, we're not dreaming, we have finally found out where God wants us to be! Tonight Dave accepted the offer to be Director of Youth Ministries at Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, VA (about 30 minutes south of Richmond). No we are not joking! No it's not just 95% sure! It's 100% certain that this is Dave's new job!!

Dave first interviewed at this church with the search committee & youth parents a few weeks ago, and when he came home, he was glowing. He said to me, "This is the job I want. I see myself fitting here better than any place I've interviewed at yet." And we prayerfully continued on with the process. He had a follow-up interview with the pastors last week, and shortly after that, we found out they'd be offering us a job proposal. Tonight, we met with a couple of church leaders and accepted the job. Not only that, the kids returned from their winter ski retreat while we were there, so we ran outside and Dave was introduced to them as their new youth pastor. They cheered and hollered (probably all sugared up from their road trip back, no doubt, but still better than a tepid early-Sunday morning reaction to be sure!) and we took a group photo with them ("Dave's first picture with his new group!" said one parent.) They were so friendly and funny! It was a wonderful, spontaneous, warm welcome. Praise God for making this happen and for providing us a much-needed job - a job that Dave desired more than anything else in the world!

Not only that, I just learned that my best friend Jenny had her baby on Saturday - a healthy, muy bonita baby girl, Frida Esperanza. Congratulations, Jenny, Jake, & Joaquin!

Our own baby-in-the-making is doing well at 16+ weeks. We will find out next month if it is a boy or a girl. Meanwhile, Lucy is nearly 1 year old already. She is doing funny things like playing peekaboo (she won't actually hide her eyes, she'll just put an item up to her forehead or ear or something and then put her arm back down, waiting for me to say "Peekaboo!"), laughing this little fake sounding laugh repeatedly and waiting for our reaction ("heh... heh... heh... heh..."), and sticking out her tongue at me when I show her mine. She's awesome.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers & support. I am without enough words to show my gratitude to you and to God for answering our many, many prayers. Now it's time to find a place to live and get settled in! Dave starts next Monday, hooray!!!

so here's what i've been doing...
