I went to San Antonio and all you got was this lousy blog!

First things first: Lucy is 11 months old! I can't believe our little beauty is a month away from her first birthday. Pictures to come soon, hopefully. It's harder to post them when my own computer is packed away.

We returned from San Antonio late Monday night after a really great 3-day trip. My heart felt like it was home again, and it was sad to leave so soon. First, the fun stuff: We got to enjoy tons of great food. It's no exaggeration to say that my taste buds felt at home again too. We ate at Chuy's, where Lucy tried her first homemade tortilla! We devoured them. We ate at Canyon Cafe in the Quarry, and we hit Chris Madrid's for burgers (Dave can now boast that he ate the MACHO!). We also got to savor homemade bean & cheese breakfast tacos at the youth Sunday school hour, made by Bea, the church's chef. They were heaven in my mouth.

More exciting than food was getting to visit with Jenny & Jake two nights in a row. It had been over 3 years since I'd seen them, and in that time, they lived in El Salvador as missionaries and had a son, Joaquin, who is now over 2 years old. They're also about to greet their new daughter, whose name is yet to be revealed. It was so much fun to go to their house and just talk and catch up each night after a long day of interviewing. Thanks y'all! Hopefully we'll be neighbors soon.

Now, the interview stuff: In our humble opinions, we felt the whole weekend was really great. Dave did an awesome job (again) presenting himself and his vision for youth ministry to the pastoral staff, the parents, and the youth. He is excited about ministering to these kids and it's safe to say it'd be a dream come true for us if this job is offered to Dave. We liked the church and felt comfortable there, and there are tons of opportunities for ministry and outreach. I think it would be stretching & challenging for Dave in all the right ways, and it'd be so much fun for him to step in and guide the youth ministry for years to come. We are ready to commit to this body of Christ, if only they'll have us. They have a couple other candidates to talk to first, and we should hear something in a few weeks.

Please pray with us that God would give Dave this opportunity. His heart is called to youth and he desires to minister to them within a church setting. This is the most recent in a long line of opportunities, and we'd like to settle down and get plugged in there. In the meantime, Dave continues to interview at various businesses here in Richmond. These interviews are going well. We are praying for God's leading & wisdom as we proceed. We are continuing to stay with friends in town (for which we are grateful, but it can get tiring not having a place of your own) as we wait on God to direct us. What will happen next?

so here's what i've been doing...
