- Where are you moving again? Georgia?
Nope. Huntsville, Alabama will be our new home. Huntsville is a really cool small city in the northern part of Alabama. It is a really pretty place, with mountains (some might call them hills, but I'm all about calling them mountains) and beautiful, well-kept city streets. It's home to some NASA stuff and America's famed Space Camp -> and Sonic. Lots of engineers and other fascinatingly smart people move to Huntsville for their jobs. The people we've met there are unbelievably generous, funny, and kind. And no, not everyone there has a thick southern accent, but plenty of folks do!
- What's your new church like?
Check out their website. It's a great place with great ministries and awesome community outreach.
- When are you moving?
Next Tuesday. We're splitting the trip up over two days to make it easier on ourselves (and our sweet children), and we're planning to arrive in Huntsville on Wednesday August 1. A great youth group volunteer from our new church, Mitzi, is coming to Richmond to drive back to AL with us to help us with the driving and with the babies. How cool is that? By the way, we won't have internet for a few weeks after this weekend, so my blogs will be a bit ignored.
- Dawn, how are you feeling?
Great! Even though so much transition is happening in our lives (besides the addition of Eli), I have been able to rest thoroughly over the past 2.5 weeks. Thanks to Dave, my mom, my dad, and Richmond friends who are helping us pack & move, I've been able to recover as I should. And I keep saying everything (baby-wise) seems easier the second time around.
- How is Eli sleeping?
It depends. On a good night, he'll wake up for 2-3 feedings and continue to sleep in between each one. But we also have longer nights when he wants to be wide awake. Just like his mom, dad, & sister, Eli appears to have a bit of "night owl" in him.
- How is Lucy adapting to having a new brother?
She LOVES him! Lucy says "Eeeeeeee-liiiiiii" in a singsong voice a hundred times a day, more than any other word in her growing vocabulary. When he's upstairs & crying, she'll be downstairs, wandering around voicing her curiosity about where he is. She likes to touch him a lot and is learning to do so more gently each day. She often comes beside him and lays her head next to his, kind of like in a hug. It's precious.
- How did your most recent church respond to the news of Dave's leaving after 5 months?
The best word to describe it is aloofly. Most folks simply said, "Okay," and not much else. We haven't been in contact with anyone there since Dave's last day. Dave's boss (the pastor) was a bit defensive and argumentative about Dave's reasons for leaving, and showed no real understanding or support in the decision. There were a few final circumstances wherein he was downright rude. We left without fanfare or sentiment, and that is okay by us. We didn't belong there, and we feel 100% confident that God led us out of that situation in His perfect timing and plan. We praise God for what I call a major "rescue mission". I feel like He swooped into where we are here with a huge helicopter and let down an enormous net that is sweeping us up and into something better. If you read some of the first 30 Psalms, you might visualize what I mean. The word "rescue" is used countless times in those. (If you are still curious about this situation, email us with specific questions.)
- What about your current lease?
Another major answer to prayer! The Lord provided a new tenant for our house to move in effective Aug. 1 (the day after we move out!), meaning we are no longer obligated to pay rent here (in addition to our rent in AL) through next March. We are released from this burden!
- Have you seen Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix?
No. We don't get to the movies much anymore, especially now that we have two tykes. Dave did get to see Transformers with a friend, and I'm currently reading Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows. If we do get to go sometime soon, you can bet Merlin's pants that it'll be The Bourne Ultimatum. (By the way, we've been waiting for what seems like for-e-VER for We Are Marshall to arrive on dvd. We've joked that someday we're going to have a football movie trilogy marathon - We Are Marshall, Gridiron Gang, and Invincible. Anyone know why it's taking so long? Erica?)
And that about covers it. Please keep us in your prayers as we move & get settled. I'll try to post updates as soon as we get our computer set up in the new place. Thanks!
