O Eli

Daddy and Eli
One happy kid
Mommy & Eli

He's here! Eli Alexander was born at 4:33 p.m. on July 9, 2007, weighing in at 7 lbs, 1 oz. and measuring 19 3/4 inches long.

We are all doing great. I am recovering from the surgery very easily, and Lucy is showing more and more obvious love for her baby brother each day. She runs to his pack & play whenever he's in it, saying, "Baby!" or "Eli!" (she already knows how to say his name; it's an easy one!) Dave was an awesome support person and said he felt more confident the second time around. He was great! My parents came to help with Lucy while we were in the hospital, which was a huge blessing. And all of my doctors & nurses were fantastic.
We picked "Eli" from a little-known but beautiful Rich Mullins song off of his Brother's Keeper album. You can read all of the lyrics to the song (and maybe even listen to it) here. My favorite part is below.
O Eli
There's a sanctity in your innocence
A certain beauty and no uncertain strength
That brings me to the faith
I don't know if I
If I am climbing to or falling in
But it comes like grace from your tiny hands
When I hold you in mine
And I pray that the eyes
Of your heart
Shine bright
With the hope to which you're called
And may you know with all the saints
The height, the depth, the width, and the length
Of the love of God
O Eli
This includes sentiments found in Ephesians 1:16-19.
We thank you for your kind wishes and prayers; it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end, and we are so totally in love with our new baby boy. I feel so much gratitude for what I've been given.

so here's what i've been doing...
