Lucy, Dave, and Livvy all loaded up in the Honda (Mitzi, Eli, & I drove in the Vibe)
Mitzi (one of our new church friends) flew to Virginia to drive back with us to Alabama. She came simply to help us with our trip. It was awesome. I don't know how we could have done it without her. It took all of us awhile to find our "rhythm" on the road... seriously, how often do people do what we just did? 3 adults, 2 babies, 2 cars, 1 dog, 700 miles: it's tough! But after our first day (the LOOOONG day), we figured out how to make the most of each stop. We were very blessed by Mitzi's help, plus it was fun to get to know her in the car!
Dave multi-tasking at one of our stops: arranging for appliances at our new house and feeding Lucy lunch.
The sign we have been waiting for!!
Well, we made it! We're here, we're safe, we're happy!
As soon as we arrived, our new church friends were waiting for us. They overswhelmed us (in the good way) with their sacrificial help, time, muscles, energy, & encouragement. Our pantry was filled with food, our truck was unloaded in a matter of hours, and even after that, many folks stayed later just to help us get things set up (computers, furniture, tv, even unpacking several boxes for us.) Plus, a cleaning crew from church had already been at our "new" rental house to clean it inside & out! The list of blessings totally goes on and on. Most of our move-in helpers were kids from the youth group and their families, and youth group leaders. It was a great day of fellowship. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Three weeks in, and we're already experiencing rich conversations and great times of community with our new friends. The folks at Covenant truly make our church fantastic. We are BLESSED.
