at the lake

This weekend we had the privilege of going to a gorgeous lake cabin (in Tennessee) for an overnight youth leaders' retreat. I have been wanting to spend more time with our new friends at church, and it's not always possible (or easy) with our two babies. Dave and I knew the whole family was going to come to this. Unfortunately, Lucy was not feeling that well, so there were a few stressful moments. But everyone rallied and helped Dave & me take good care of her & Eli. During naptime, I got to get out and put my camera to use. There were a lot of rich blues & greens to capture.
According to someone in our group, this is a blue condor. I happened to have my camera on & zoomed already.

It was a large, majestic bird.

Dave & I taught the group how to play Loaded Questions, and we had a rousing game late at night on the back porch. I managed to capture numerous random quotes for my ongoing quote board.

There was a hammock, but I didn't have time to use it. The babies kept me very busy.

Lucy's using more and more phrases, like "Get down?" and "Go outside?" She was saying the latter as I snapped this.

The view from the back porch. Those are our new friends with the noodles down there in the water.

Dave gets ready to take off on a solo adventure.

Here he's using the wave runner with Salley.

Lucy had an earlier nap than usual in one of the back porch's comfy chairs (that's not me).

I saw an intriguingly large spider web.

I took several pictures from the lake trip and they are now posted on my photoblog. Be sure to check them out! There are a few that I am really proud of.

I think fall is creeping in to Alabama's weather. The past couple of days have been crystal clear and noticeably cooler. It's the most wonderful, amazing feeling to think fall is nearly here. And we got an invite to go back to the cabin for another weekend!

so here's what i've been doing...
