At long last, I can make it public on the ole blog: Dave got a new youth director position at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama! The way this all worked out over the past 2 months is truly God's plan at work. We are sooooooooooo blessed. Check out the church's website and the announcement of Dave's hire. You can also see pics of other church folks, and read about what this dynamic body is doing in its community. We are very pleased with the ministry that is happening at CPC and are excited to become a part of it. And as you can see from this note (which we received from the pastor's wife, Jean, when we arrived in Huntsville for the interview), the people are wonderfully caring. This has been proven in many ways already.
Dave gave his two weeks' notice for his current job on Friday. The response has been interesting; and going to work is a little awkward for Dave (although it has been awkward for him for some time now). I am sure we'll continue to learn from this brief experience in Colonial Heights long after we leave. God is good. The experience we've had here was surely to change us for the better, and I am grateful that it has brought me back to Him on a daily basis. Throughout the past 5 months, I have studied Luke and Acts in-depth, and have enjoyed a steady period of prayer-journaling and rich spiritual discussions with my husband. I believe it is our increased time spent with God on a personal level that has better attuned our hearts to His will.
We feel that this is the conclusion to our year-long job search when Dave originally decided to leave Christ Community last summer. Thank you for being with us all along the way.
(p.s. I highly recommend the devotional studies by Elizabeth George for Luke and by Max Lucado for Acts.)
